What are the different zones?

There are 7 themed zones in Universal Studio Beijing:

  • Hollywood Boulevard
  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
  • Minion Land
  • Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness
  • Transformers: Metrobase
  • Jurassic World Isla Nublar
  • Waterworld

10:00 – 20:00 Every Day (Please check the official website for the most up-to-date times)

Note: If you are staying at the Universal Beijing resort, you can enter one hour early.

Getting There

By Car

Take the Jingha Express Highway and exit at Tianjiafu.

Parking

There are plenty of parking spots at Universal Studios Beijing including multi-tier parking however be aware of the different pricing between normal parking, premium parking, and hotel parking. The main difference is that premium parking is very close to the park entrance, while for normal parking you must walk an extra 2km before arriving at the gates.

Pricing
  • Normal Parking:
    • 100 RMB (15 USD) from gate opening to 2 pm
    • 50 RMB (7 USD) between 2 pm to 6 pm
    • 25 RMB (3 USD) after 6 pm
  • Premium Parking:
    • 200 RMB (30 USD) per day
  • Hotel Parking
    • 3 RMB per 15 minutes, up to a maximum of 180 RMB (25 USD) per 24 hours.
    • Note that being a hotel guest does not include free parking.
  • Valet Parking
    • 360 RMB (50 USD)

Subway

Taking the subway to Universal Studios is cheap and easy, board line number 7 or 1 and get off at Universal Beijing Resort.

Taxi/Rideshare

If choosing to rideshare, make sure to set the arrival location at the rideshare drop-off point.

What to Bring

  1. Ticket (duh) however there’s a catch. You will need to book your entry time via the Universal Resort app and show your QR code at the reserved time upon entry.
  2. ID. For foreign visitors, this means a passport.
  3. Universal Resort app includes a map of the park, restaurants, toilets, and show times.
  4. Sunscreen/raincoat. This depends on what season you’re going but best to be prepared for the elements.

Good to Know

  1. Prams and wheelchairs can be hired including raincovers as well.
  2. Paid lockers are set up at multiple locations. Luggage storage is also available for larger suitcases.
  3. Water stations are present in many locations, often next to bathrooms. Make sure to bring a water bottle!
  4. Designated smoking areas are available around the park.
  5. Lost something? The Hollywood zone Lost and Found might have what you left behind.
  6. Medical stations are located along the main street, Hollywood, and kung fu panda zones.

Where to Stay

The Universal Studios Grand Hotel

Stay right at the entrance of Universal Studios and feel like you’re stepping into a Hollywood blockbuster with The Universal Studios Grand Hotel. Most of the 800 rooms in this hotel are filled with classic Hollywood movie posters not to mention the Californian-style lobby and staircases.

Perks: Enjoy priority access to Universal Studios Beijing by taking an elevator straight into the park and avoiding the queues.

NUO Resort Hotel-Universal Beijing Resort

Unlike the classic Universal Studios-style hotel, the NUO Resort Hotel has none of the Hollywood hits and is a good option if you seek somewhere a little calmer. Only a ten-minute walk from the park entrance and minus the kids, the hotel is an excellent place to relax and unwind in a bathtub after a thrilling day of rollercoasters. To get to Universal Studios faster, use the hotel’s back door and walk along Sunrise Avenue to enter via the park’s side entrance.

Beijing Yilan Yunjing Boutique Hotel

During peak season the hotels next to Universal Studios might prove difficult to book. The Yilan Yunjing Hotel is a more budget-friendly option close to Universal Studios Beijing and the line 7 and 8 subway stations.

Perks: The hotel offers a shuttle bus to and from Universal Studios.
